Leather office chairs have always been and still are, part of the executive chairs list of materials. They are durable, easy to clean and essentially pretty comfortable. It takes more than just leather to make a good office chair though and an executive one at that. If you are buying executive chairs for your boardroom or for your offices then you’ve got to make a couple of considerations before you start to transform you workspace from shabby to chic and classy.
When you start off, don’t think about the design just yet. There’s a concept of design that says form will follow function. So what you really have to do is consider first what situations the chair will be used and how it will be used. Make sure your chairs are the right height and provide the correct support for both the person’s back and neck as well. Now that you are past the comfort stage you can thing about the design.
Color – In terms of colour you can do two things, you can blend the colors of your executive chairs to the surroundings or you can also make it stand out. If you have a monochrome office in black and white perhaps, what you can do to make the chair stand out is make it red. This will give the person sitting in the chair some additional authority because it is in sharp contrast to the rest of the office. If you plan to blend the chair in though, blend it to the table or the back wall. This way there will be a sense of uniformity.
Form – If you have an office with lots of strong lines you may want to get a chair with slight curves. This will ensure that there is a break in the stiffness of the office and will give the executive a more approachable look. On the other hand if you are after something rigid, additional straight lines in the chair design will give that look as well as some cold.
Material – Chrome is popular in most modern offices as well as metal but are extremely cold in appearance. If you want to soften that out a little bit but still want the chair to look regal, consider a wooden frame that’s classic looking but cover it in leather or a similar material. That will add a classic look and feel.
Ultimately choosing the right design will depend on the type of environment you are out to portray. Leather however, even dyed leather can really bring some spark to a drab and dreary office.
